Energy Performance Certificates (EPC’s) have been introduced to help improve the energy efficiency of buildings. EPC’s are required whenever a building is built, sold or rented out, with the certificate to be displayed in a prominent position at the building’s entrance.
The certificate provides 'A' to 'G' ratings for the building, with 'A' being the most energy efficient and 'G' being the least, with the average up to now being 'D'. To achieve A+ the building must be carbon neutral.
There is a general agreement from within the property industry that achieving an ‘A’ certificate is likely to be cost prohibitive until technology catches up with aspirations. However Quintain actively encourages the move to carbon neutrality, and would be delighted to work with occupiers to push the existing parameters.
A draft EPC assessment has been undertaken on No’s 1 & 2 City Park Gate, which indicates that a ‘B’ rating is achievable with the existing design.
